Museum in the crown of the dam of Lake Czorsztyn
The area around Lake Czorsztyn is full of places absolutely worth visiting. On opposite sides of the lake rise two historic fortresses: the Castle in Niedzica (also called Dunajec Castle) and the picturesque ruins of the Gothic Castle in Czorsztyn. You can admire them from the dam crown, from the lake shore, or during a boat cruise. On the Czorsztyn Reservoir, sightseeing boats such as "Dunajec" and "Halny" operate between the castles in Niedzica and Czorsztyn, as well as the "Harnaś" boat offering scenic cruises. Besides them, there is also a ferry that allows crossing the lake, e.g. from Czorsztyn to Niedzica. From the deck of the boat, you can also admire the Niedzica Water Dam and the Zielone Skałki Nature Reserve.
It is also worth visiting the Czorsztyn Settlement – an open-air ethnographic museum located on the Stylchyn Peninsula. Here you will find historic buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries that were relocated from the villages of Maniowy and part of Czorsztyn, flooded during the construction of Lake Czorsztyn. You will see wooden villas, rural farmhouses, and stone cellars with wooden granaries. It's a living lesson in the history and culture of the region (truly impressive!).
